College of Marin Board of Trustees Ratify the 2017-2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement
On May 25th of 2018, the Board ratified the United Professors of Marin CBA.
UPM Unit Members Ratify the 2017-2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement
On May 22nd of 2018, Josette Lambert read the votes, while Arthur Lutz, recorded them, and Laurie Ordin observed. The total number of ballots matched the number of members who signed in as UPM unit members.
The results:
- 94 ballots submitted
- 1 blank ballot
- 88 yes
- 1 no
- 4 provisional
On Friday, May 25th, 2018, the College of Marin Board of Trustees will be having a special meeting for the District ratification.
CBA Salary Changes Timeline Letter
A letter from College of Marin's VP of Finance & College Operations, Greg Nelson, that outlines the timeline for salary changes after the ratificatiion by UPM members and the College of Marin Board of trustees:
• June - staff will make adjustment to salary tables for UPM and Childcare for the end of month payroll and mid-month payroll.
• July - the new salary tables will roll over automatically into the new fiscal year via Banner based ON June adjustments and natural step increases.
• September - end of month payroll will include any 2017 retro adjustments, off schedule, to the membership.
• October - end of month payroll will include any 2018 retro adjustments, off schedule to the membership.
• November – All payroll cycles will normalize accordingly.

On May 4th, UPM signed the final agreement, putting a capstone on a long and demanding negotiation process that began in August of 2016 and which included twelve separate articles.
UPM’s next step is to hold several informational meetings on the tentative agreements. We have scheduled two meetings on the Kentfield campus and one at Indian Valley; the dates, times, and locations are as follows:
- Information Meeting I: Tuesday, May 15, 2:30-4, IVC (Bldg. 27, Rm. 116)
- Information Meeting II: Tuesday, May 15, 5-6:30, KTD (Deedy Lounge)
- Information Meeting III: Thursday, May 17, 2:30-4, KTD (Deedy Lounge)
- Ratification Vote: Monday May 21, 9:30 am unitl 6 pm
The ratification vote by the general membership is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 21, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm at the UPM office in Kentfield (VS11B). You may drop by any time during those hours to cast your vote. You must be a member of UPM in good standing (not just a “representation fee” payer) in order to vote. The ratification vote monitors will have membership lists.
